Most States require that any unpaid wages/salaries/funds etc be handed over to the State by the Payer (Job) if the Payee (you) cannot be located or found.

In cases like those listed, your money is eventually turned over to the State... at least it is supposed to be turned over... that is how you end up having "unclaimed funds" under your name. Even if you have never had a case or situation like those listed you should check anyways just to make sure... you may be surprised.
