Part 1 of the video (00:00 - 05:05) was recorded using the Kodak EasyShare 1073 IS. Part 2 of the Video (05:06 - 06:17) was recorded using a JVC GR-850U DV Camera.
I needed a DV Camcorder to shoot video destined for the internet(s). My Budget was $350; I wasn't going to spend more than 3 fitty. So I googled around until I came across some young punk on youtube who had uploaded a review for the JVC GR-D850U... it was a pretty good review that the kid put together... his review influenced my decision to purchase my JVC GR-D850U Camcorder.
MY REVIEW: I will keep this short and simple; JVC GR-D850U...
Price Range: $150-250 (I Paid $160 on Overstock.com) = 5/5 Stars
Ease of Use: Very easy to learn how to use (10 minutes) = 4/5 Stars
Computer Compatibility: Had to buy a 4-6 pin FireWire Cable to transfer video to computer. The GR-D850U has No USB connection. FireWire Cable Sold Separately. Your Computer needs to have a FireWire Card (If not buy one and install it: see how) = 2/5
Camcorder Size: Small, fits in the palm of my hand. Fits in a large pocket = 4/5
Video Quality: Blurry at a distance but crisp at close up, good for the web. Does not seem to like loud colors in low light... Of course video quality can be improved with after market lighting... shooting in a room with a low watt light bulb (energy saver bulb) produces a yellowish color video... Consider buying a light... it comes with a LED light but it's not much help = 3/5 Stars
Video Format: .wmv format which is best for computer use (editing and uploading)... option to transfer video in High Quality NTSC .avi (720x480 pixels) but the wide screen NTSC .avi will transfer at 180 mb per minute of video... you will need lots of room on computer's hard drive in order to transfer in HQ .avi ...10 minutes of video in 16:9 NTSC .avi = 1.8 GB. Transfer options are .avi and .wmv ...DID NOT GET the option of .mov format, NO IDEA if the camcorder is transfer compatible with MAC computers. Can MAC transfer .avi or .wmv? Better find out transfer formats if you are a Mac User. 3/5 Stars
Battery: 1 Hour of shooting; 2 Hours to recharge batter to 100% = 3/5
